Drummer Girl (MF) ~ Andi Bremner @BremnerAndi @evernightpub

Moonstone, 2

Shawna Gill is living two lives.  That of the good, obedient minister’s daughter still seeking redemption for a mistake she made years ago and that of a passionate, talented percussionist for all girl band Moonstone.  For years she has done a brilliant job at keeping her two worlds and her two persona’s separate.  But that is all about to change.

When asked to fill in for up and coming rock band The Lair on their new album she jumps at the chance, even though it means working with her nemesis Adam Wilson.  Adam represents everything Shawna has tried to avoid and she is determined to avoid him at all costs, even if it means denying what she wants and how she feels.  Because Shawna is not just protecting herself, but she is protecting a secret she has been hiding for six years.  A secret more precious than her own heart.

Excerpt:

Reaching out I touched her chin, tilting her head back. Her eyes were pale green and wide, shining up at me. She looked almost haunted and in that moment I wanted desperately to make everything right for this girl. Whatever she’d gone through surely it wasn’t bad enough to leave her looking like that, as if her heart was breaking.

Everyone deserves their second chance,” I said quietly, holding her gaze and letting my fingers trace over the edge of her jaw. “Hell, some get multiple chances.”

Her skin was soft and cool under my fingers. We stood close, that strawberry smell that was so her, so Shawna, drawing me closer and closer to her. My heart beat a million miles an hour and I could feel myself being inching toward her. My hand curled around her neck holding her steady as she kept my gaze, a tiny pink tongue darting out to wet her lips.

That’s what did me in.

I don’t remember planning to kiss her or even thinking about it but before I knew what had happened I’d lowered my head and pressed my mouth to hers. She tasted like fucking strawberries and inside my chest my heart lurched as I traced over her soft, plump lips with my tongue before sliding my mouth over hers and forcing her to open for me. Our touch was light and her sweet breath washed over me making my whole body harden. I deepened the kiss wondering if and when she’d pull away and marvelling when I felt her hands come to rest on my chest before they reached up and wrapped around me, her fingers sliding into my hair.

My senses where completely and utterly overwhelmed by Shawna. By her smell, her touch, her taste, the way she made tiny little noises in the back of her throat as the kiss deepened, as our mouths moved against one another and our tongues tangled. I stepped closer, pressing her back against the wall and pushing my body up against her, loving the way she paused to gasp as my arousal pressed against her stomach. But she didn’t pull away, she didn’t push me away and she didn’t ask me to stop. Instead she returned my kiss, clutching at me and making those delightful fucking noises. I kept my hands on either side of her head not trusting myself to touch her, knowing that once I did I’d have serious trouble stopping. I wanted to touch and kiss each and every part of her, I wanted to see the peachy cream smoothness of her naked body, I wanted to pinch and tweak the ruby red of her nipples until she cried out and I wanted to taste the sweetness that I knew lay between her legs. Just the idea of her, of burying myself in her, of losing myself in her made me push harder against her and groan into her mouth.

Excerpt: from Malediction by Erzabet Bishop

07 Jul 21st - Malediction_EBAlistair spotted the gorgeous brunette across the room and, when she approached the refreshment table, he followed. For a millisecond he’d taken her for the scrawny woman in the red dress, but on closer inspection he was pleased to note the differences. Same dress, but the way this woman wore it, he was tempted to peel it from her, inch by scrumptious inch.

His pack mate had poured a few bottles of something into the punch and, while it was entertaining to watch some of the guests succumb to the antics of the season, he didn’t quite feel the same about the sexy female in front of him. This woman would be far more interesting sober, he had a hunch and his predictions usually turned out to be spot on. The markings on her arms intrigued him and he wondered if they covered more of her body. Like tendrils of smoke curling around her flesh, they spiraled around her skin in an unending pattern, giving him the urge to trace every single one and see where it led.

He should be home at Briarwood, but his duties as Beta brought him here to make sure Jessup didn’t get too out of hand. So far the pup had been a bit mischievous, but nothing that would make him worry. Whatever concerns he had melted when he gazed at the beauty in front of him, his animal taking control.

Serious gray eyes winked at him from behind an elegant lacy black mask and he had the urge to peek beneath it to see what she was hiding. Full lips bowed below the mask, and her mass of dark hair was wound into an up-do that he longed to plunge his fingers into while he explored her mouth with his.

Jesus, Alastair. Get a grip.

His wolf perked up when she’d come into view and his instinct to bed her followed in quick succession. He shook it off with a frown. One night stands were not his style, especially with women he didn’t know. He had other concerns and, as soon as he made sure Jessup wasn’t going to fuck up and intoxicate half of the wealthier citizens of Salem, he was out of here. Duncan was still missing and he’d left Laurel in charge in his stead.

But, her eyes. Fuck. They fairly glowed with a power that socked him in the gut as they watched him from behind the mask. When she wet her lips and took her bottom lip between her teeth, he almost lost the battle with himself not to let his beast take over and drag her into the nearest coat closet.

“Are you here with someone?” He cleared his throat, aware of the growl threading through his voice.

“No. Are you?”

“Just a couple of friends. What do you think? Want to end up in a compromising situation with a stranger?” He grinned and, seeing Jessup approach, steered her away from the refreshment table. Alistair wanted her to himself, at least for a little while.

“Seven deadly sins? How about a dance? With my footwork, that could lead towards all kinds of infractions.”

“Hmm.” He swung her into his arms and into the crowd, relishing the sensation of his hand on her lower back. The plunging view offered by her bodice made his body stand at attention and the wolf beneath his skin whined with want. “So, which deadly sin could you possibly have that would sink a guy faster than lust? That dress…”

“These shoes.”

“Oh, but those… those are not a sin. Not at all. In fact, I could look at them all night long.”

“You could, could you?” The woman laughed, deep and sensual. Her eyes snapped with amusement. “Then you try wearing them.”

“Maybe I will.” He wanted her, and the closer they got, the more obvious it was going to become. He weaved her around the dance floor, her movements matching his. Her perfume and the spicy scent of her hair were making it hard to concentrate. At the look in her eyes, he dragged her back hard against him, his animal wild in his blood.

“Do you want to get out of here?”

“Please.”

“Let’s get some air.” Alistair led her out onto the balcony, the twinkle lights flickered making the grounds outside the hotel look enchanted. He had to clear his head.

“Who are you?” Alistair brushed a strand of hair away from her face.

“I’m just a girl who needs an escape from reality. How about you?”

“Same here.”

“Just a girl, huh?” The mystery woman smiled.

He gathered her into his arms, letting her feel the full force of his arousal. “I don’t know. I’m not feeling much like a girl right now.”

“No. I didn’t think you were.” She leaned into his embrace, her lips curving up in an inviting smile.

“What’s your name?”

“Bridget. Yours?”

“Alistair.”

“Well, Alistair. It’s nice to meet you. I have one question.”

“What’s that?”

“How long is it going to take for you to kiss me?”

“Time me.” Alistair’s mouth covered hers hungrily and he forced her mouth open with his thrusting tongue. She gasped, trembling within his embrace and he pulled her deeper into the shadows, away from prying eyes.

BLOWN (MF) ~ Rose Wulf @RoseWulfAuthor @evernightpub

From the Author…

Hello! Thank you for having me! Today I’m here to talk about my brand-new release, Blown (Elemental 2)!

06 Jun 30th - BLOWN-final

Blurb:

Elemental Series, 2

With enemies that can pull lightning from the sky, it’s probably a bad time to fall in love.

Air elemental Nate Hawke had it bad for his new renter, Madison Price. He should have been staying away, but then it was too late – her place of work was up in flames. So he planted himself at her side, vowing to stand between his enemies and the woman he was falling in love with, come what may.

Madison knew better than to have a thing for her sexy new landlord. She just couldn’t help herself. After her work burned to the ground, leaving her with the battle scars to prove it, she didn’t have much better to do than think about Nate Hawke. She just never imagined what he and his brothers were capable of – or what it might mean if she were to lose him.

This is a previously published work. It has been revised and edited for Evernight Publishing.

Excerpt:

“This was an amazing idea, Nate. Thank you.” It was the truth. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d enjoyed herself as much.

Nate smiled, reaching over and brushing his fingertips lightly along the base of her throat as he leaned down and murmured, “You’re welcome.”

A shiver entirely unrelated to the breeze raced down her spine and Madison swallowed heavily. Her skin tingled beneath his feather-light touch as his warm breath fanned over her ear, and she doubted any woman would begrudge her such reflexes. She leaned back, into his touch, and shifted so that she could reach over and loosely grasp the collar of his shirt as she tugged him closer. He leaned in willingly, and this time when their lips met there was no hesitation. After a lingering moment, his tongue slipped out and trailed along her lower lip before sweeping into her mouth.

Her hand released his collar, sliding up his toned chest and curving around his shoulders until she could tangle it in his loose, dark hair. His hand tightened slightly over the nape of her neck, his fingers massaging the skin, as his other hand landed on her hip and hauled her up against his chest. His tongue slid along hers, more interested in the sensual dance than the exploration that awaited him, and Madison’s other hand lifted to curl into the side of his shirt. She hadn’t expected his kiss to awaken her senses quite so thoroughly, but she couldn’t deny that it had.

He rolled his tongue over hers one more time, letting the motion linger, before pulling away.

Madison dragged in a deep breath, her own hold on him relaxing, and she slowly offered him a small, appreciative smile.

He swallowed as he pulled his hands from her and asked, “So … ready to keep going?”

She nodded, taking a moment to find her own voice. “Can I borrow your phone? I want to take one more picture before we move on.” She also needed to catch her breath. She wanted to enjoy the environment as much as the man sharing it with her and, at the moment, her instincts were to focus mostly on enjoying him.

His lips twitched and he tugged the camera out of his pocket. “Sure.” He handed it over before adding, “I’ll just clean up while you’re doing that.”

“Okay,” she said, smiling again as she pushed to her feet.

Madison moved closer to the edge of the cliff, wanting a picture of the clearing from the other side, and secretly glad that she would get at least one shot with Nate in it. And maybe she’d take a shot of the rocky shore that was surely far beneath them, too. But before she did either, she decided, she was going to shed her jacket. She had cooled down for the moment, but she knew that what was left of the hike would keep her temperature high enough without the fabric. So she dropped the phone in her jeans pocket and shrugged out of the coat as her gaze glided across the surface of the water before her.

She was too distracted to register the shifting of the ground beneath her feet at first, and when she shifted her weight to tug her arm free of the remaining sleeve, it was too late. The ground beneath her seemed to give, sinking slightly, before cracking and crumbling away entirely. The surface of the cliff arched out over open air, and there simply wasn’t enough to support her weight.

For a moment, Madison’s eyes widened and her heart stopped as she felt herself begin to fall. And then an instinctive cry tore from her lips as she attempted to spin around and throw herself backwards. She succeeded only in losing what was left of her footing and finding herself in free fall.

TRINITY (MF) ~ Andi Bremner @BremnerAndi @evernightpub

Moonstone, 1

Trinity Laker is the tough talking, sexy, lead singer for all girl rock band Moonstone. Broke, emotionally and physically damaged and sometimes homeless she doesn’t have the time or energy for romance of any kind. For her, her world and her future is tied up with the band.

From the moment she steps on stage rich boy Luke Morrison is intrigued by her and knows that he has to have her, no matter what secrets he has to keep to protect both his heart and Trinity’s.

Excerpt:

As soon as Luke’s lips touched mine I knew I was a goner. I’d thought of little else but his lips and his kisses and the way he made my insides turn to liquid fire. I didn’t think I’d ever get a chance to feel like that again and now here he was, kissing me again.

I arched against him and moved closer, sliding my hands up his shoulders and into the short strands of hair at the base of his nape. His tongue reached into my mouth and I welcomed it, kissing him deeper. Suddenly I was lifted off the seat by his strong hands at my waist, and found myself straddling his hips. Pain shot through me at his touch, my ribs still sore and tender and I winced pulling away from him.

“What?” He blinked up at me. “Did I hurt you?”

I shook my head and sucked in some quick breathes to get through the pain. “It’s okay. It’s nothing.”

He didn’t believe me, I could see the flicker in his eyes but I distracted him by leaning in to kiss him again. It worked. I felt his hands on my back, roaming from my shoulder blades down over my buttocks where he cupped me and pushed me closer on him. I could feel his arousal through our denims and it only served to inflame me more. My whole body was trembling and I wanted him, wanted to feel him as close as I possibly could.

His lips left mine and traced hot wet kisses down my throat as I arched against him, holding onto his hair, tugging it. His hands slipped beneath my shirt, tracing over my skin and leaving me burning as if his fingertips were on fire. As if I was on fire everywhere he touched me. A sound filled the air and I realized it was me. I was panting and breathless.

“God, Trinity,” he murmured against my throat, “what you do to me.”

Elemental Series, 1

Blake Hawke, first born of the four Hawke brothers, has the ability to control water.

Keeping the family secret is a big deal. A deal Blake all but throws out the window when he finds Brooke sitting alone on the beach. Before he knows it he’s showing her everything he can do – until he gets the call that his baby sister is trapped between an impossible fire and a cliff.

Brooke has barely come to terms with the fact that she’s got the hots for a real-life Aquaman when news breaks that they have serious enemies. Now she’s got a guy to win, a secret to keep, and weather-controlling enemies to look out for. The last thing she needs is to add some creepy stalker to the list.

Can Blake protect his family and the woman he’s falling in love with from an enemy he never knew he had?

This is a previously published work. It has been revised and edited for Evernight Publishing.

Excerpt:

Tiny balls of hail bounced off the hood of Blake’s car as he swung in behind Brooke’s Civic. He disregarded the quickly dissipating storm as he yanked his keys from the ignition and rushed from his car to her door. All he’d been able to think about on the drive over had been her voice as she’d told him—in broken, disorganized pieces—what had happened. She’d started crying in the middle of her first sentence, but around her tear-soaked voice he could hear the tightness caused by obvious pain.

His concern left no room for the manners his mother tried to teach him, and so he didn’t even pause to tap on the door before he let himself in. But he did pause when his eyes landed on her a moment later.

Brooke was sitting on her counter, beside her sink. She had a kitchen towel wrapped around her left forearm, held in place by her other hand. Her cell phone was plugged into the wall on her other side, in easy reach. And between the phone and herself was a large smear of blood. Several spots of blood dotted the otherwise white kitchen linoleum, leading back to the living-room carpet.

“Brooke.” Blake gathered himself and moved quickly towards her, sparing only a glance at the devastation in her living room.

She lifted her head and blinked her eyes several times before attempting to offer him a smile. “You drove too fast,” she said, her voice devoid of any appropriate scolding tone.

“No, I didn’t,” Blake argued, failing at his attempt at levity as much as she had. He was standing before her in no time, and with his new angle he could easily see a piece of bloody glass lying in the sink beside her. That piece of glass was undoubtedly the reason the towel on her arm was slowly darkening.

Her tone curious and forcibly light, Brooke asked, “Are you sure I shouldn’t have called 911?”

Frowning at her wrapped arm and the fresh droplets of blood on the floor beneath her dangling feet, Blake replied, “Absolutely. You get free medical. I’ll call Logan and have him come over to board up your window and get rid of that branch, okay?”

“You don’t have to do all that,” Brooke said, her right hand tightening over her injured arm. “I have insurance … and my landlord will take care of my window as soon as he gets home.”

Blake lifted his frown to aim it at her properly. “I’m not taking no for an answer this time. Now let’s get you in the car and we can talk on the road.”

Brooke hesitated, her gaze darting toward the ground. “I’d really rather not walk, if it’s all the same to you.”

Blake silently reached out and pulled her phone from the charger before dropping it into his pocket. Then he shifted and reached around her, ignoring her half-hearted protests, and wrapped an arm around her torso. He slipped his other arm carefully beneath her knees and slid her off the counter, against his chest.

“What are you doing?” Brooke asked, a tiny bit of life beginning to return to her voice.

“Keeping you off your feet,” Blake replied easily as he carried her toward the front door. It was shut, indicating that he’d remembered to close it, but he didn’t hesitate. As he walked, his eyes flicked back toward the living room, and the melted hail pulled from the carpet and off the debris. It gathered together and then smoothly slid through the air toward them.

The water expanded as it neared them, and Brooke watched in silence as the water poured into the space between her door and the doorframe. Blake slowed his pace just slightly as the water gathered together and popped the latch. Then it curved, pushing out, and the door slowly swung open.

“That was impressive,” Brooke declared. Life had returned to her voice, but so had the pain.
